Some people are born with a little bit extra. Lawrence
Nowakowski was one of those people. He was brilliant, creative, and charming.
His ability to work with complex mechanics – whether an industrial pump, car,
or computer - was astonishing. He had an innate sense of how things worked
together.
Larry knew a little about a lot – he had an answer for every
question. This quality made him an amazing conversationalist who could talk for
hours on any subject. While some people feared public speaking, Larry welcomed
it. He could deliver a touching toast, persuasive presentation, or lengthy joke
off the top of his head. His distinctive voice and laugh was memorable and will
not be forgotten.
Larry was skilled creatively as well. He was a talented
artist and craftsman. Furniture, art, models – nothing was beyond his
capability. It was almost taken for granted that he could build or fix
anything. It was just part of our problem-solving process, we knew he could
successfully correct or create anything we asked.
Larry was larger than life, and will be loved and missed
forever. He leaves his wife Judy, son
and daughter in-law Stephan and Kristina Nowakowski, son and daughter-in-law
David Nowakowski and Emily Greene, and daughter and son-in-law Terri and Mark
Zimmer to remember him and tell his stories to his grandchildren Wyatt and
Ashley Nowakowski, and Penelope Zimmer - who affectionately referred to him as "Big Grandpa". Sophie the dog will also miss his
unconditional love and belly rubs.
He would’ve loved if we could claim that he passed away
fighting off terrorists or saving puppies from a fire. Larry enjoyed a great
exaggeration, and we loved when he made them. To say his personality and
presence will leave a hole in our lives is a drastic understatement.
We know everyone has a great memory of our Dad, and we'd like to see them. He had friends all over the world. Please leave your story about Larry in the comments. If you have a picture or very long story to post, please send it to tazimmer@gmail.com
Sincerely,
The Nowakowski's

I'm so sorry to hear about Larry's passing. Larry used to work as a vendor for the company I work for, and we worked together quite often in the past, but hardly at all in recent years. About 3 weeks ago, Larry was in our offices, and I got the chance to meet and sit down with him again after a number of years not having seen him. I enjoyed hearing about his recent overseas travels. He always had a big and larger than life personality that I enjoyed. I'm glad I got to see him one last time. He will be missed.

I was very sorry and am sad to hear of Larry's passing. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. I am thankful for having known Larry. The obituary was correct when you characterized him as a genuine person who cared about people. It is these traits that I will remember most from our time together.

I am so sorry for your loss as Larry was truly a very special person. I saw Larry just a few weeks ago at GE and he looked so carefree, happy and of course had some jokes to share.

My deepest condolences to the family of Larry. I will miss his sense of humor and infectious smile. He always made up tales that I would believe, until he said otherwise...could of been days before the truth came out. His heart was as big as big could be. He spoke quite often of his children and grandchildren. I remember him telling me that Penelope was named after him...I said how? He said he and Terri would play games when she was a child and he gave her the name of Penelope Jones and she gave him his, the name Eyes Honeychild (I believe). He will be missed by alot of people, those who knew him loved him dearly. Hes in the arms of the angels now looking down upon each and every one who he loved and who loved him. God Bless You All.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear about Larry's passing. I met Larry two years ago at Governor School in Wisconsin where he held a class on pumps. Larry always had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and they were valued. He indeed, always had a great joke to tell us. We will miss him dearly this year.
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
